V is for valiant effort

Last week was De Soto’s homecoming and boy did that keep me busy. I forgot just how much high school students do during homecoming week; there were pep rallies, spirit rallies, decorating contests and, of course, the big game. Unfortunately, the Wildcats lost the big game, but they fought a good fight. They played Louisburg, the #3 team in the state, so it while it was a disappointment, they did a great job.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the city’s spirit rally the night before the big game. I’m not posting any actual game photos because my football actions shots are still not up to my standards. I’m working on it.

These cheerleaders have some huge, homemade bows. They make for a great silhouette though.

At the end of the rally, the fire department lit a giant V for Victory. It looked great against the sky & while it didn't stand for victory last weekend, it definitely stood for valiant!
